We leave tomorrow for two weeks in HK. Well, I will be there 2 weeks. He'll be there until probably mid March. We don't know his schedule yet.

Our schedule during the trip is getting busier and busier. We arrive at 11pm on the 4th. On the 5th there happens to be an open house at a school for the kids. So our first event, after trying to catch some horizontal rest, will be to figure out how in the hell we get ourselves to this school. We can't even apply to schools yet without having an address there or a bank account to pay the application fees in HK dollars.... but at least we scored a spot to attend the open house. It's something!

We get a relocation specialist to help us for 3 days included in our move package. We are meeting with her on the 6th to go get HK id cards, open a bank account, get our Octopus cards (subway, bus prepaid card--I will write a whole post on an octopus card at some point--very cool) and take a tour of some major sights to help us get the lay of the land. I think it'll be in a minivan... It should be a busy and exhausting day but it's going to be awesome to have somebody with us to help!

On the 8th and 9th we'll be meeting with our relocation lady again to see apartments. Hopefully we'll find something with her! There's plenty of stuff from which to choose. We are focusing on two areas:

--Discovery Bay which is over by Disneyland. It's full of resort style condos and it's where a lot of expats tend to settle. There are no cars allowed into Discovery Bay, they have a bus system and there are limo/minvans available for hire. If you are rich you can apply to have a personal golf cart but we won't have the funds for that. Aside from the busses you can get there on the ferry from Central, HK Island.

--We also plan to look on Hong Kong Island in an area called the Mid Levels. It's the chic hip area but it's probably not a good idea for the kids. But we are still going to look. How often does one get the chance to apartment hunt in a foreign country? We are definitely going to look.

So there will be no rest for the weary. I just hope it's fun!
