We made it to the annual Victoria Park Flower Market in Causeway Bay. The market runs for about a week every year in the week leading up to Chinese New Year. We were given fair warning that it would be crowded and insane. Very accurate! I think it falls under the category of "you have to do it once". We did it and it was an awesome experience! We were the only Western people there! Ok not the only but for real, there were not very many of us!
At the Flower Market there are 3 or four rows of stalls that are 3 or four city blocks long so it's a big grid. It could also be called a festival, or street fair to give you a better idea of what it's all about. There were different types of flowers and plants for sale since it is a flower market. But also there were all kinds of food stands, carnival games, trinkets for sale, stuffed animals, balloons, and all things tiger since it is the year of the tiger. There were directional signs posted over head to let you know which way you should walk (it was one way traffic for the crowd) and how to get to the exits.
As soon as we walked in we made arrangements for where we'd meet if we got separated. We did get separated for about 20 minutes but there was no way to even get back to where we had designated our meeting place to be! But thankfully since it was a one way flow of people it wasn't too difficult to find each other. It just took a little patience. And I had my bright blue coat on which helped.
